I’m really pleased to finally be able to advise that the formal paperwork is now complete to appoint the Revd Martyn Woodsford as the next Team Rector of the Halewood and Hunts Cross Team and we can proceed to making an announcement.  Thank you so much for your patience as we worked through the extensive formalities!

Archdeacon Jennifer says:

“We knew this was going to be an interesting appointment. This vacancy came about as the result of several unfortunate pieces joining up to make for a difficult time, yet with the faithful ministry of many folks being led by Richard Gedge, a highly capable Interim Minister, we saw a turnaround, and now many good things are happening. Therefore we were hopeful and prayed that God would send just the right priest to take up this role.

The Revd Martin Woodsford is, indeed, that outstanding candidate and we were unanimous in believing that he is exactly the right person to be taking forward the work of God’s mission at Halewood and Hunts Cross.  He brings an amazing array of gifts and experience as well as enthusiasm and a real sense of call.

And, just as interesting is that this call will bring Martyn back to the UK from where he has been serving many years in Australia.  Because of the distance he and his family will have to travel to get here, the appointment will have to wait until the Spring, but I know you will all give the Woodsfords a proper welcome when they arrive, and my thanks to all those keeping things going and growing in the meantime.

Martyn will move into the vicarage in early March and will be instituted by the Bishop of Liverpool on the 12th April at 7.30pm at one of the churches in your team.

Our final poppy cascades going up at St Mary's yesterday.
Thanks to Linda, Kate and Christabel for all the 'assembly work' and to everyone who's knitted, crocheted and sewn throughout the year to help our acts of Remembrance this weekend
